Hi! I’m Jarrod Taylor.

In 2013 I started at Syrinx Consulting as a Senior Software Engineer where I contracted with dozens of companies all over the US.

We worked on everything from turning back–of–a–napkin sketches into shipping products all the way up to enterprise development and maintenance. I acted as a sales engineer, hands–on developer, team lead, and project manager.

In 2016 I was made an associate partner.

In 2022 we were acquired by DeWinter Group and began operating as Maris Consulting.

BeQuick develops MVNO wireless billing and fulfillment software.

I worked with a small team to rebuild their entire platform from the ground up as a distributed system.

I helped redevelop their claims platform from Ruby on Rails to Lisp + a graph database so they can quickly adapt to industry process changes.

In 2011 I went back to freelancing, helping local businesses with web/mobile design and development.

With BrightFire, I built a Rails engine to handle the backend of websites for their client, QuintEvents.

Sites such as COTA Experiences, NFL Pro Bowl On Location, and Grand Prix Experiences used the engine to manage block tickets sales.

With Career Training Concepts, I turned Dr. Gary Arthur’s study guide program from a workbook into Counselor Exams, a practice exam web app with purchasable study materials.

We went door-to-door selling mobile web design to local restaurants in Atlanta.

Front Porch, a hotspot ISP and advertising platform, was the sole investor in eKwipper. When eKwipper shut down, Front Porch brought me on as a R&D Engineer for the company officers.

Their main product was a router for hotels that showed ads when visitors joined the wifi network. The growth of 3G necessitated a new strategy.

My role was to collect new ideas and quickly turn them into protoypes, bypassing the typically slow engineering timelines and red tape.

eKwipper was a mobile web app (before app stores) for creating grocery lists, locating products in stores, and consolidating digital coupons for quick scanning during checkout.

As employee #5, this was my first startup experience.

I built the consumer desktop and mobile web apps, designed the B2B UX for tracking inventory and product placement, and worked with the engineering team on integrating our backend system with grocery store cash registers.

I got my start at 17 building a video studio in the back of a prepress shop. It quickly led to creating interactive video CDs with Macromedia Director and eventually to building websites. I handled the design, production, and promotional materials for client projects, from concept to completion.

Outlier Jets is the industry leading private jet company providing 24/7/365 global access to aircraft.

I work with them to come up with and build new ideas to promote their product.

The Fidelity Bloom app uses psychology to help people improve their saving and spending habits.

I worked on the design and implement of a scalable configuration system inside the app so we could customize features for universities and corporate sponsors, allowing them to create unique experiences for their students and employees.

Using the Fidelity OnSite Hub iOS app, Fidelity employees can book desks and conference rooms to fit their hybrid work schedules, find out when and where their colleagues are stationed, and coordinate in-person working sessions with their teams. All driven by Microsoft Teams, Exchange, and Graph data.

I helped get the initial version ready to ship.

I worked with them to build a cross platform mobile app around their Employee Portal with custom branded versions for Prism’s customers to give to their own employees.

The IDEXX Preventative Care Challenge (PCC) tool allows veterinarians access to customized testing panels and protocols, pet owner communication tools, and personalized training.

Initially released in US and Canada, IDEXX wanted to extend PCC to the Australian market, requiring unique test panels options, pricing and discount calculations, reporting and feedback methods, and SAP integration.

We extended the language internationalization to include AU English, integrated with the Global SAP system to manage AU access, added AU specific test panels, replaced their outdated LavaStorm reporting tools with new custom tools, replaced the existing SES emailing integration with SendGrid, streamlined their iPad apps, helped audit and secure the PCC application code, and assisted with hiring and training new developers.

The Baupost Group is a Boston-based investment manager with a long-term, value-oriented, multi-strategy approach to investing.

I led the front-end design, architecture, development, and testing of a new internal reporting portal.

I implemented their then-new design system, built various front end features for tracking cloud server health, integrated third-party APIs and services, and worked closely with backend developers to design and implement RESTful APIs for seamless data exchange between the front- and backend systems.

TSD designs and develops fleet mobility solutions for dealerships, automotive manufacturers, automotive groups, and car rental companies worldwide.

We built their white-labeled mobile apps and supporting mid-tier services for reserving cars, bikes, and golf carts. Customers can scan QR codes to rent vehicles on-the-fly.

I prototyped a mobile, cross platform, custom web browser for automating testing.

We developed an internal patient record tracking system that was installed on-site in dental offices.

Localytics is a mobile marketing solution to create personalized mobile app experiences that drive engagement, loyalty, and conversion.

I integrated Twitter’s advertising API into their main app, consulted on the design of their payment processing integrations, and refactored their test suite.

Cumberland Farms SmartPay has processed over $1B in mobile payments via pay-at-the-pump ACH, saving hundreds of thousands of customers 10¢/gallon.

Before NFC payments were a thing, PayPal was branching out into retail and mobile payments by taking advantage of new smartphone capabilities.

I worked with them to develop iOS and Android SDKs for retailers. The SDKs leveraged PayPal services to manage payments, users, locations, products, and shopping sessions.

We used Bluetooth Low Energy to interface with cash registers for in-store digital payments.

Altman is one of the world’s largest global strategy consulting firms with an exclusive focus on the Telecommunications, Media, and Technology.

I helped them develop statistical significance algorithms in Python for brand health tracking data, fixed a few data and performance issues, and consulted on a new architecture for the then-upcoming version of their platform.
